# How to Call a Resident From an On-Call Alert

> Learn how to reach a resident by phone from an accepted on-call alert, with Latchel connecting the call and keeping your number private.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **This guide is for on-call technicians.** It applies when a property manager has added you to a contact rotation and you've accepted an on-call alert. If you have questions about your rotation, contact the property manager who set it up.

Need to talk to the resident after you accept an on-call alert? You can call them right from the alert page. Latchel places the call and connects you, so you don't have to look up or share your personal number.

> [!TIP]
>
> **In other words:**
>
> Tap **Call Resident**, confirm, answer the call from Latchel, and press 1. You'll be connected to the resident.

## **What This Feature Does**

> **Calls from the alert page**
>
> A **Call Resident** button appears on the on-call alert page after you accept the alert.

> **Keeps your number private**
>
> The resident sees the property manager's Latchel-assigned number, and your number is hidden from the resident's job screen.

> **Logged on the alert**
>
> A log entry noting that you called the resident, with a link to the call, is added to the on-call alert page.

> **Works on your job screen too**
>
> The **Call Resident** button is also available on your public job screen.

## **How to Call a Resident From an On-Call Alert**

#### 1. Accept the on-call alert.

Open the on-call alert and accept it. Once it's accepted, the **Call Resident** button appears on the alert page.

#### 2. Tap Call Resident.

You'll see a short explanation of what will happen next.

#### 3. Tap Confirm.

Latchel calls your phone. The call comes from the on-call number.

#### 4. Answer the call and press 1.

Pressing 1 lets Latchel know you're on the line. Latchel then connects you to the resident.

## **Things to Remember**

> [!NOTE]
>
> The **Call Resident** button stays available for 72 hours after you accept the alert. It only shows when both you and the resident have a phone number on file.

> [!WARNING]
>
> All calls are recorded, and everyone on the call hears a short message saying so.

> [!TIP]
>
> Backup contacts on the rotation get the same **Call Resident** button, so whoever accepts the alert can reach the resident.

## **Frequently Asked Questions**

> **Will the resident see my phone number?**
>
> No. The resident sees the property manager's Latchel-assigned number when you call, and your number is hidden from the resident's job screen.

> **Why do I have to press 1?**
>
> Pressing 1 confirms that a real person answered and not your voicemail. Latchel connects you to the resident only after you press 1.

> **Why don't I see the Call Resident button?**
>
> The button shows only after you accept the alert, only for 72 hours after that, and only when both you and the resident have a phone number on file. If something still looks wrong, email [**success@latchel.com**](mailto:success@latchel.com).
