Tired of getting an email for every single work order update, or missing something important because it only showed up in-app? Notification Preferences puts you in the driver’s seat. From one screen in your Account Settings, you can decide — category by category, or notification by notification — whether you hear about something by Email, SMS, In-App, any combination of the three, or not at all. No more all-or-nothing notification settings, and no more digging through menus to find the one toggle you need.
This replaces the old, more limited notification controls. If you’ve ever wished you could get SMS for emergencies but skip the email for routine updates, this is exactly built for that.

How It’s Organized

Your notifications are grouped into five categories, each with its own count of individual notification types inside:

Work Orders

16 notifications covering the full work order lifecycle — scheduling, troubleshooting, completion, and more.

Payments & Invoices

5 notifications for invoice and payment activity that may need your attention.

Tasks

4 notifications covering task assignments and daily task summaries.

Account & Portfolio

1 notification for account-level and portfolio metrics.

Admin Messages

1 notification for messages sent directly from the Latchel team.
Each category — and each individual notification inside it — has its own Email, SMS, and In-App checkboxes, so you’re never stuck choosing one channel for everything.
Some individual notifications don’t support every channel (for example, a few Work Order notifications don’t offer SMS). If a checkbox looks grayed out, that channel simply isn’t available for that specific notification.

Steps to Activate

Go to Account Settings

Click your initials or profile picture in the upper right corner of your dashboard, then select Account Settings.

Open the Notifications tab

Click the Notifications tab, then select Notification Preferences.

Toggle a whole category, or fine-tune it

Check or uncheck Email, SMS, or In-App next to a category name to set it for everything inside that category at once. Or, click the arrow next to the category to expand it and adjust individual notifications one by one.

Save your changes

Once you’re happy with your settings, click Save at the top of the page.
Changing a setting at the category level resets all the individual notifications inside it to match. If you’ve fine-tuned specific notifications within a category, toggling the category checkbox will overwrite those individual choices.
This screen currently manages notification categories broadly. Fine-grained control over individual Task notifications specifically is on the roadmap as a near-term follow-up — for now, Task notification settings are managed at the category level shown here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Toggling the Email, SMS, or In-App checkbox next to a category name turns that channel on or off for every notification inside the category at once. Expanding the category (using the arrow) lets you set each individual notification’s channels separately for more precise control.
Not every notification type supports every channel. If SMS (or another channel) is grayed out for a specific notification, that channel simply isn’t offered for it — it’s not something you’re missing a setting for.
Yes. Category-level changes reset the individual notifications inside that category to match the new category setting, so any one-off customizations you made will be overwritten. Fine-tune individual notifications after adjusting the category level, not before.
Yes. Uncheck Email, SMS, and In-App for a category (or an individual notification) to stop receiving it through any channel.
This page manages your own personal notification preferences only. Each user on your team sets their own preferences from their own Account Settings.
Task assignments and daily task summaries are grouped under the Tasks category on this page. More granular, per-notification control specifically for Tasks is planned as a follow-up enhancement.
Make sure to click Save at the top of the page after making changes. If you navigate away without saving, your changes won’t be kept.
